About Nordic WalkFit
Instructor Profile

Wendi Paterson has been personal training residents of Ottawa and Kanata for the past 12 years. She also teaches fitness classes and courses at the Kanata Wave Pool and Kanata YMCA/YWCA. She is an Internationally Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nordic Walking Instructor, Sports Nutritionist and Golf Conditioning Specialist. After completing the Nordic Walking Certification course in 2007, she immediately recognized the numerous health benefits of nordic walking and that  it would become an important part of a healthy lifestyle for people of all ages and fitness levels. As soon as the last snow melted in the spring of 2008, she began to offer free clinics and group walks.


What is Nordic WalkFit and what can it do for me?
Nordic walking - also called Urban Poling is Canada's newest fitness craze - and for obvious reasons. It is fun, safe and easy to learn. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, from the occasional walker who enjoys a walk in the outdoors, to the elite athlete performing sports specific cross training.

The aerobic and strength building benefits of Nordic walking are well documented. Participants receive a full body workout. During execution many major muscles are used, arms, back, shoulders, abdominals, legs, heart, lungs and the mind.
