I have been diagnosed with cancer four times in my life - prostate, kidney and bladder (twice). I've had three surgeries and one series of treatments. And then, after having hip replacement surgery, my doctor recommended daily walking to regain my strength. Just recently, my doctors told me that I am cancer free!!

The Nordic Walking and the Snowshoeing have improved my physical health and also my overall well-being. I credit these activities for giving me a very positive outlook and for getting me involved with a great group of friends. Nordic Walking and Snowshoeing have strengthened my legs and helped with my breathing. The combination of exercise and prescription drugs has also helped to reduce my blood pressure. My blood pressure used to be 150/90+ but is now a normal 120/80.

My mom is 61 years old. There are several reasons why she had low energy. The first reason is that she takes heart medication for a heart condition called “Atrial Fibrillation” which causes her to have low blood pressure and feel fatigue.

Secondly, she has mild case of osteoporosis in her legs so she found it painful to walk. The combination of both made it difficult for her to join in any physical activity.

When I heard the benefits of how Nordic Walking helps those who have walking problems and also that Wendi was giving the training, I encouraged my mom to try the class.

I told her about the benefits and that Wendi was a wonderful trainer who would work with her at a reasonable pace. She found it difficult for the first two classes but now she loves it.

In fact, yesterday morning, my mom asked me to join her for a walk and I was amazed. I could hardly keep up with her…. I couldn’t believe the difference.

She says that walking brought back all the energy she thought she lost. In addition, she lost those extra pounds she gained and she doesn’t even have any more pain in her legs.

I got my energetic mom back!! Thanks Wendi!!!

Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy nordic walking. I was quite sick this past winter and started walking in spring to get my energy level up but did not make great strides.

Since I have joined Nordic Walking I am amazed how much my energy has increased in these few weeks and my whole fitness level has improved.

Since commencing Nordic walking my posture has improved tremendously and my upper arms are noticeably leaner and more toned.

Moreover, my cardio has improved and I am now able to walk 6 – 7 kilometers in well under an hour.

Not only do I enjoy the company of the people I walk with, I also love being outside and walking on trails I never knew existed.

Walking is no longer a boring exercise, every outing is an adventure!

Nordic Walking has benefited me in many ways. My posture has improved, I am more aware of posture and proper posture is now more the norm.

Nordic Walking provides the perfect venue for exercise which compliments weight maintenance and weight loss. I have lost weight (5 lbs) and continue to follow a weight loss program. I hope to reach my weight loss goal

When poling correctly you can feel the muscle movement in your abs, legs and arms. My legs, core and back have strengthened. My energy and stamina have increased significantly since May.

Nordic Walking allows each individual to work within their own personal comfort zone, accelerating at your own pace, doing your own work out in a team setting. We started in May as individuals and we have become a team encourging each other and complementing each other on a work out well done.

Wendi is a exceptional Instructor always keeping in mind individual needs and /or limitations. She finds time without fail to walk with each member of the group providing instruction, encouragement and everyday chitchat.

Everyone is encouraged in the group and everyone feels totally comfortable working at their own fitness level and pushing beyond.

I never realized that there were so many trails in Kanata as we are constantly introduced to new ones to explore.

Wendi is truly genuine and makes everyone feel very comfortable. Wendi and Mark (our official photographer) rock!

Last year, I looked at a picture of my kids and myself, I don't really see 'ME'....where am I??! I see this 'maternal' woman with rounded shoulders, rounded belly...

Today, I see a WOMAN standing PROUD with her SHOULDERS BACK, STOMACH IN and WALKING with a GREAT group of WOMEN!!!

Since taking up Nordic Walking at the beginning of September, I have finally found a form of exercise that I thoroughly enjoy.

After the first three weeks of taking classes with Jennifer on Mondays, I decided to take the plunge and purchase my own poles. I couldn't cope with just going out once a week but now I go 3 - 4 times a week.

I have lost 20lbs and lots of inches so far!! I really enjoy going out for my walk. I used to suffer from very bad lower back pain and could just manage to do the weekly shop. Now I can walk 7k and I feel great.

My posture has improved tremendously and my husband has said he didn't realize I could walk so fast! Several people have stopped me on my walk and asked me about my poles and I have told them they are great.

I feel more confident in myself - with every step!
